While making marmalade last year with my costuming friend Tina and my blogging bestie Miranda from Spooky Little Halloween, we booked a Halloween cruise under the influence of a lot of alcohol (as one does). And then we convinced our other blogging bestie, Cheyenne from Sense & Serendipity to sell find a sitter for her kids and come along…and the rest is history! In this part 2 of our Halloween cruise trip report, I’m sharing our group and individual costumes that we wore every evening on the cruise.

This was a great opportunity excuse for Tina and I, who costume at cosplay conventions, to bring costumes that we’ve worn before, and maybe a few new things. And Miranda, who celebrates Halloween year-round, got to play dress up every day, as one should. Cheyenne, chillest goddess that she is, played along with us weirdos and dressed up as well. So we wore costumes every single night on the cruise, and we think even the staff in the dining room came to look forward to what we would wear each night. Here’s a rundown of the costumes we wore…
Day 1, first night on the cruise: Sabrina and the Weird Sisters from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Going subtle witch on the first night of the cruise set the tone for the week, plus these were easy costumes to quickly change into after the chaos of boarding, attending muster, and not knowing when luggage will show up. So these lightweight costumes were in our carry-on bags. Miranda, Hallowqueen that she is, was all about Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, so she was obviously Sabrina, and the other three of us dressed as the Weird Sisters. Besides, any costume that features an extreme resting bitch face is alright with me! Read all about how I put together these costumes on the cheap in the link below.

Day 2, sea day: 1920’s glamour girls
The Roaring Twenties, the Jazz Age, or commonly the Gatsby Era, this decade of frivolity and progress has inspired us for generations, and the costumes are killer! We all had fun putting together our Gatsby glam looks to best fit our personalities, and talk about turning heads in the dining room! How I put together my outfit prior to this cruise is in the link below.

Day 3, Cozumel: welcome to our sock hop!
I’ve always wanted a poodle skirt. So when planning group costumes for this cruise, I made the executive decision that we’d all wear poodle skirts one evening…which also meant that I was in charge of making them. We wore them on the first excursion night because they were fairly simple to put on after a fun day in Mexico. And oh my gorilla they were stupid fun to wear that evening! How I made the poodle skirts and accessorized my outfit is in the link below.

Day 4, Belize: skeletons, etc.
After getting rained on and being eaten alive all day in Belize, we had little tolerance for high maintenance frill, so we wore comfortable outfits featuring spooky things. And we had a lot of cocktails…to comfort ourselves.
Day 5, Honduras: witch hat fascinators
And after the most blissful day on the beach in Honduras, and maybe being one of the last ones back on the ship, we scrambled to get ready for dinner and threw on witch hat fascinators. I think our dining room staff was disappointed we didn’t show up in costume. And ironically, this was the night of the “big costume contest” on the ship. But the contest was after our bedtime and we’re old ladies. So we went to bed…I regret nothing!
Day 6, sea day: cruise elegant night
I love cruise elegant/formal nights, I don’t want to see them go away, and I will die on that hill. We each brought a geekly glam dress (or costume) for this night. Tina went classic, Miranda went spooky, Cheyenne literally dressed up as Daenerys from Game of Thrones, and I wore a subtle red carpet version of Darth Vader. How I made the statement necklace and put together the outfit is in the link below.

Day 7, sea day fun: Hopper and Eleven from Stranger Things
Sea days are my favorite! Miranda wanted to wear Stranger Things costumes come hell or high water, so I offered to dress as Eleven with her. Because what better setting to wear a romper than a cruise? We attended brunch, afternoon tea, a whisky masterclass, and shopped in costume. I honestly don’t think anyone noticed, which is alright by me. Cruise camo… Our outfits are in the link below.

Day 7, last night on the cruise: cruise casual costumes
Last night of the cruise and needing to pack? Screw it, let’s jusy wear whatever is left. Tina wore her adorable afternoon tea Han Solo, Miranda wore another Stranger Things costume (Scoops Ahoy!), Cheyenne was a saucy beer wench, and I wore my new Breakfast at Tiffany’s costume. What a bittersweet night at the close of this special cruise. I miss my sasalele witches so much and would love to take another Halloween cruise again. Until then…boo voyage!
