Are you ready for this? I’m going to share an easy way to peel those mthrfrking garlic cloves without losing your mind. We’ve been through some stupid (and some gimmicky) garlic peeling products through the years and still draw straws for who’s going to peel the garlic. But when my husband found a garlic peeling hack on YouTube, the game had changed. SAVEUR magazine’s Executive Food Editor, Todd Coleman smashes a garlic head, throws the cloves between two big ass stainless steel bowls, and “shakes the Dickens out of them.” Friggin genius. While we don’t have two big ass stainless steel bowls in our kitchen, we do have an abundance of mason jars.
So here’s what we do:
Step 1: Hulk-smash the crap out of the head of garlic (one hit, unless you’re a weakling)
Step 2: throw garlic cloves in a large mason jar, wide mouth if you have one, close lid
Step 3: shake the ever loving Dickens out of it for about 20 seconds
Step 4: pick out all the naked garlic cloves, discard those pesky skins
Less time peeling, more time cooking drinking. YES!!!
