Channeling My Inner Child at Houston Zoo Lights

Do you remember driving around neighborhoods looking at Christmas lights when you were a kid?  Those are some of my fondest childhood memories, especially during the holidays.  Now that I’m a grown up (groan) and sit in traffic 10 hours per week, I’d rather not add another couple hours looking at lights.  As a nice alternative, Houston Zoo opens it’s doors at night during the holidays (mid-November to mid-January) for Zoo Lights.  Kid friendly AND adult friendly.  THIS is what I’ve been missing since I was a kid.

These are a few of my favorite things at Houston Zoo Lights:

  • Lights wrapped around trees
  • Kettle corn (OMG)
  • Hot chocolate with Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • Wine and beer for purchase (but seriously, hot chocolate with Bailey’s!)

You won’t see any of the zoo animals (maybe the giraffes if they’re out),  but what you will find are animals made with lights.  This makes my inner child happy.  Enjoy some of my photos below from my trip to the zoo in early December.

Happy holidays!
