Disneybounding Darth Vader

Last year on my second trip to Orlando for RunDisney’s Wine & Dine half marathon and Taste of Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, I Disneybounded for the first time. I Disneybound as Ursula and my beautiful flawless friend, Melissa, Disneybound as Darth Vader. This might look familiar to you if you’re no stranger to the blog, as this look has been worn for afternoon tea at Costume College and formal night on a Halloween cruise. Here’s how we put together the outfit, and some of the fun shenanigans we had at the parks…

Melissa’s outfit was even easier to put together than my Ursula, and mine was pretty easy! I already had made a Darth Vader inspired statement necklace and belt with sew on rhinestones, so I let Melissa wear the set with just any black dress she’d be comfortable sporting all day around multiple parks. The necklace and belt look just as cute Disneybounding as it does worn to afternoon tea. Wanting versatile mouse ears that can be worn with multiple outfits, I bought these sequined stunners on Etsy for Melissa’s birthday, which we were celebrating that weekend. The sequins are reversible!

After running a half marathon that morning, Melissa patiently waited for me to do a quick shower and change. And then we wine and dined around the world at Epcot, visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and closed the day at Magic Kingdom. It was really neat visiting Galaxy’s edge for the first time and seeing the incredible detail in everything (and glad we were able to snap a few photos of Melissa looking fabulously menacing there. There was just too much to do so we’ll stay an extra day or two next time…and maybe not even run, I don’t know.

Never mind that I negated a 13 mile run with so many sweet and savory treats that day, but to be fair we did walk an additional 12 miles around the parks that day. Everything was wonderful! At Epcot, some of our favorites included France, Germany, Spain, and Italy…and we still talk about how awesome the frozen limoncello margarita was! I have got to recreate that tasty beverage at home!

I think Melissa had a very magical birthday, indeed! We had plans to go back this year but the pandemic happened, which really cut into my half marathon and travel plans. So we’ll go again next year with new Disneybounding costumes. I’d like to make reversible poodle skirts for the characters Ursula and Abu for me and a poison apple and Simba for Melissa.

(A special thank you to my super awesome husband for playing paparazzi around the parks!)
