Costuming (Kilted) Hawkeye

Usually when I add a costume to my wish-list or line-up, one costume becomes three, because I make, throw together, or purchase a costume for my husband and niece.  When I made my Burlesque Loki costume to join a Burlesque (or Kilted) Superheros and Villains group for last DragonCon, I claimed Hawkeye for my husband.  His costume was very easy to piece together, and I only had to make one item.

Last year at Texas Renaissance Festival, we purchased a black utility kilt (Damn Near Kilt ‘Em Men’s Greenhorn Utility Kilt Medium Black), and I had an 18th century men’s shirt pattern (1700’s Colonial Shirt Pattern (XS- Medium)) from his Jack Randall costume, so we decided we’d start there.  I used black Italian linen (for comfort) and modified JP Ryan’s shirt pattern to be sleeveless, and then added cap sleeves to loosely mimic Renner’s Hawkeye from The Avengers.  In lieu of buttons, I added silver eyelets so the shirt would be laced rather than buttoned.  I also ordered a set of Shield patches (AVENGERS Movie SHIELD Logo Costume Shoulder Patch Set of 2) and ironed one on the right breast of his shirt.

The belt and sporran were also purchased at the renaissance festival, but I found the rest of the accessories on Amazon:
