Steampunk Seamstress: The Utility Belt, etc.

Following my last Steampunk Seamstress on my arm bracers, I’m sharing the so-quick-I-barely-took-any-pictures build for my undercorset utility belt and optional fan holder, parasol holder, and belt bag. I say optional because until I put everything on and head to an event, hopefully Dickens on the Strand in Galveston this December, I won’t really know which accessories I’ll need to wear/carry. But it was nice to get these pieces out of the way so I won’t have to worry about anything when the time comes.

To match my bandolier shoulder pad and arm bracers, I used the same black herringbone fabric for these pieces. And I used a downloadable pattern I bought from Steamtorium on Etsy for all pieces, with only one modification made. And of course, I embellished the bag front flap with buttons!

I made the pieces exactly as directed in the instructions with one exception. To make the parasol holder, I used the large fan holder pattern pieces, but added 1″ to all sides, and left the bottom open so the parasol could go all the way through. To my surprise, and relief, it was the perfect size!

Up next is the rest of the outfit including accessories not mentioned in this or prior steampunk posts. Cheerio!
