Since We Last Spoke

Oh, hi! It’s been a minute…almost 3 years, actually…since my last post. I’ve been busy, distracted, and grieving. The pandemic changed a lot, and the social media landscape changed completely. I don’t love short format videos At. All. And I just got out of the habit of sharing on the blog and social media. If I’m being completely honest, I thought about shutting down this site, but many of you are still using my costume and cruise posts as a guide, so the blog will live on! I’m finally in a better headspace to share again.

Before I get into my usual posts, a quick recap of the last 3 years…*takes breath*…I’ve sewn a lot of fun costumes, hot glued some stuff, went to a lot of nerd conventions, bought a vacation home in Galveston, did a bunch of fun DIYs, got a puppy (hi, Kara!), traveled a little bit, drank a lot of wine, went on some cruises, and spent the best of times in The Most Magical Place On Earth.

Going forward, what will I blog about? Well, whatever I feel like sharing! Definitely costumes, adventures, and crafts (including some DIYs from the house). In the near future I’ll be sharing A LOT of disneybounding, since that has been the bulk of what’s been running through the sewing machine and occupying my mind. I may go back and pick up where I left off with other costume builds and cruise tips as well. Is there something you’ve been missing?

All that to say…I’m glad you’re still here. Thank you for sticking with me and supporting the blog. Much more to come…

With love, Sheila

  1. Hello,
    Good to see you back…
I never made it to Disney world to be Professor McGonagall , but I did do her up for Halloween 🙂 I really appreciated your tips !!!!

    1. Awe, well Minerva is timeless and can be worn any time. Witch core is in right now (as far as I’m concerned). Very welcome and hope you’re doing well!

  2. Welcome back!! I definitely missed seeing all your creative makes 😀 And yay for Amelia having a new friend – hi, Kara!

    1. This kid (Kara) is a wild child for sure, really keeping Amelia on her toes. Let’s talk about Costume College next year…

  3. Glad to see you’re back!!

  4. At 0430 my jackass cat Schatten jumped from the mantle onto me, then dogs started licking my face because I yelped. Gave up on any more sleep & let the dogs out to do their business at 0°. A hot flash later and a cup of my new obsession (pour over coffee) in hand and it’s still early. As soon as I open Pinterest, I spy this fantastically, amazing pinecone outfit. Still an hour or so till the sun rises, imma learn me how to make this thing and add it to about 16,432 pins that I’ll never make. Just kidding my bestie Barb says I’m the only person she knows who finds things on Pinterest and actually makes them and makes them well. You’re clever and funny and my type so I decided to check out your blog. And you know what I found. Let me just tell you as a WAY older (54) woman;) life is a process. Things change, as they should. Every little thing that happens in life leaves its mark on us. It sounds like you’ve been through some major life events. Maybe you’ll come back to the blog, maybe not. Whatever you decide is fine. Absolutely do not do it if you’re not feeling it- it just won’t sit right. You have left your mark on the world for sure- your Pinterest post is the kind of thing I eat for breakfast to give me fuel for the day! I’ve also learned that one tiny action, a couple of small words of kindness can make a huge difference to a person. Keep growing, keep changing, keep learning, keep having firsts, and most importantly: you be you. XO Squirrel Nurse

    1. Thank you Squirrel Nurse! And thank you for the morning cackle and smile! Sorry for the late reply as well but I just didn’t want to get ready for work just yet and thought- oops haven’t moderated comments in 84 year sooooo. Xoxo!!!
