Continued from: From Suburbs to City (Part 1) and From Suburbs to City (Part 2)
And now for the third and final update on our transition from the suburbs to the city! What a busy two months it has been! From our last update two months ago we finally unpacked everything, and we had just accepted an offer on the old house in Pearland, we were bleeding money having to pay for two mortgages and utilities, and I was running on caffeine and cuss words…

Tempting as it was to run out and purchase rugs, art, and curtains so we could feel like this was our home, we waited until the new owners closed on our old home in Pearland (which was the last day in July) to make those big purchases. What we did do in the meantime was more necessary than cosmetic: our new home has ZERO linen closets (really!) so we knocked out the stupidly useless rod and shelf in the laundry closet and installed prefab cabinets from Home Depot. Storage space is definitely premium in this house, and those cabinets really helped make great use of empty space!

Finally, closing day came around and we were rid of one property and its financial burden. Sheila-of-little-patience went straight to the store(s) for the rugs, art, and curtains that would complete our home. And shelves. And some pillows. And a throw blanket or two. Now…now it feels like home, and not just some nice place that our stuff is in. I’m able to sew again, catch up on our shows, and pay off our credit cards after months of expensive and exhausting transition. Please enjoy a wee peek into our new home, complete with rugs, art, and curtains. And of course Amelia, winner of the 2019 Echols-Smesny “Pay Attention to Me” Photobomb Award.
