From Suburbs to City: One Year Later

We celebrated a year in the new house in April, shortly after the beginning of pandemic lockdown. We’ve spent the past year just settling into inner loop life. Here’s what we’ve changed since the last update…

We’ve made very little changes to the interior, with an exception of the living room. We gave away the big couch, replaced the red chair with a lighter colored chair that Tegan loves and Jerome hates. And we replaced the ottoman coffee table with a wooden one with a lift top.

The biggest changes were to our outside spaces. The dogs’ pee and paws were killing our grass, so I designed a stone and artificial turf yard for durability and low maintenance. Ideal Turf came in and installed the features exactly to my design, and it has been the best decision! We also installed decorative fence panels and metal grates for hanging pots. Check out the before and after pictures above!

Just recently we installed wooden tiles from Ikea on the balcony. It was a cheap and quick project that gave this space an instant face lift! I can’t take credit for the idea, as our neighbor did the same to her balcony only a few days before. We also replaced the under-performing star jasmine plants with more showy mandevilla. Check out the before/after pictures above!

We’ve really taken to inner loop living and we’re so happy we moved.
