Exploring California Chillable Wine

In this edition of Supper Club Sips, we explored more California wines made by Sonoma vintner Ron Rubin. With so many different microclimates, winemaking methods, and varietals, it’s easy to get intimidated by California wine options, but these two samples of Ron’s Chillable wine blew the roof off pretentious expectations.

Wines that we sampled:

River Road Ron’s Chillable Pink

River Road Ron’s Chillable Red

It is recommended to chill both of these wines or even serve over ice. Sweeter than most in my wien fridge, and with a surprisingly low alcohol (~7%) it’s more refreshing beverage than heavy wine. In our Texas heat, this Californian import is great for any summer setting, and that’s exactly how my Supper Club enjoyed it! We rented a beach house in Galveston earlier this summer and enjoyed the Chillable wines mixed with a little LaCroix sparkling water before a walkabout. Fun!

As always, I appreciate Creative Palate for sending over these fantastic samples, and our Supper Club friends for helping with these tastings. For more information on Ron Rubin Winery, visit their website here (also available via Total Wine which delivers to my house!).
