Costuming at Comicpalooza 2019

Remember last year when I attended Comicpalooza every day, had multiple costume changes, and took a ton of pictures? This year Comicpalooza, Texas’ largest comic book, pop culture, and entertainment convention, happened last weekend (May 10-12, 2019) in Downtown Houston, and we were right in the middle of moving, unpacking, and fixing up our home of 10 years to put on the market. I was, and still am, a zombie. So we attended one busy Saturday, and I was appropriately costumed as a zombie.

With two episodes left in the Game of Thrones series, I felt like my Lady Stoneheart costume would be most appropriate, other than the fact that I felt dead tired and not remotely pretty enough for anything else. To the maybe five people that recognized it, thank you! Complete anonymity was wonderful that day, not that I could see much in those zombie contacts anyway. I was proud of Jerome in his Littlefinger costume as he was more widely recognized.

We attended the Game of Thrones panel that morning and really enjoyed seeing Emilia Clark (Daenerys Targaryen) and Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) together. They charmed every single one of us. We met up with my blogging bestie Miranda from Spooky Little Halloween, and the rest of our Game of Thrones ensemble to walk the floor, shop, eat, and drink. One booth that blew me away was the Quilted Comics & Sci-Fi exhibit hosted by International Quilt Festival. I quilt a little bit myself, but nothing like these fantastic artists! Boba Fett Lives! by Lauretta Crites and The Image of an Angel by Erin Amos were my favorites among many stunners.

We had a great time, it was a wonderful break from moving stress, and I’m so thankful to have spent the day with these awesome nerds. I wish I had taken more pictures, but I really couldn’t see much in those contacts…oops! I handed off my phone a couple times and managed to snap a few fun selfies. Will I see you next year?
