Continued from Day of the Wed (Part 1)
In December we celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary by hiking and Jeeping in Big Bend National Park…and had a planned but impromptu photoshoot. Nothing fancy; just the two of us, a tripod, my iPhone, and some curious onlookers (other park visitors). Inspired by Spectre’s Day of the Dead and some really gorgeous gothic wedding photos online, the aesthetic of the costumes and harsh desert setting seemed fitting for our anniversary shoot: Day of the Wed.
First, some photos from my iPhone…
Two months later I finally went through the photos taken on Jerome’s camera (and on the tripod)…
Of all the pictures we snapped via remote, this was the only half decent survivor. Just two weirdos standing in front of a canyon watching a cold front blow in. And the rest from his camera with Jerome behind the camera again…
Truth be told I hated the tulle skirt and veil. They were cheap Amazon finds, heavy, bulky, and very staticy in the dry desert air. They served their purpose that day so I chunked them in the trash as soon as we got to the hotel in Marfa. I love the black gown as-is with pockets easily accessible. We need an excuse to wear our skeletal formal wear again…any suggestions?
Hi Sheila, It’s Amber from Grown By Faith…I never jumped over to your blog to see all the pics from this shoot. You guys look really marvelous!! You did a fabulous job on your new outfit and so loved that you jumped in a Jeep and took these shots in those beautiful surroundings. (I’ve been a Wrangler owner since 1997 and we took my girl to Moab in 2007 – when she was a little younger). I only wish I had thought to take some crazy fun pictures in that amazing scenery! So to my question…Do you have a template for your ribcage front and back from your dress? I have a girlfriend that is modifying a black dress into a costume and she wants to paint a ribcage on the bodice. Let us know your process on this one, Thank you!!
Thank you so much for the kind words! Would if we could all go on a Jeep trip right now and capture our creations. I see you found the Part 1 post, hopefully your friend can avoid the rib cage looking like an alien face hugger on her bodice, though I’m not really bothered that mine kind of turned out that way. LOL!
