I’ve been attending Houston Press Menu of Menus off and on for years. This event is a Houston foodie’s Disneyland. The food bites, the presentation, the wine! I really (really really) enjoyed it when the venue was at Houston Museum of Natural Science, but once it moved to Silver Street Studios, the event got crowded and the people more pushy. The magic solution is VIP admission. How much damage can one do in that extra hour before general admission is allowed in? Pretty much every restaurant/distributor in the house! Not to mention strategically placed and evenly spaced wine tables! So that’s what my husband and I did a couple weeks ago: we killed it, all of it, in about an hour.
A short list of the tables we were able to visit in an hour include Andalucia Tapas Restaurant & Bar, Bismillah Restaurant, Brick House, Calabash Island Eats, Coco Crepes, Cyclone Anaya’s, DoSn International, Doughmaker, Dry Soda, Fadi’s Mediterranean Grill, Freebirds, Freezerlicious, Frenchy’s Creole, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, Harold’s Heights, Hobbit Café, Italiano’s Restaurant, Mia Bella, Picos Restaurant, Prestige Oysters, Revelry, State of Grace, Sweet Marie’s, Texas T Kobe, The Old Main St. Bakery, Whole Foods, and Zelko Bistro. What we found were some pretty remarkable dishes. These shining stars are featured below.
We’ll see you again next year, Houston Press Menu of Menus! VIP: worth every penny.
