Don’t throw away those Christmas cards! Not to hoard or anything (that’s what we tell people, but really, this is a judge-free zone), but those cards with the pretty fronts can be reused next year as gift tags. I saw the idea on Pinterest and was happy to find that I already had all the supplies at home.

Here’s what you’ll need:
- Last year’s Christmas cards (or really any cards, any season)
- Tag punch, extra large (Amazon: Fiskars 2X-Large Lever Punch, Tag, Michael’s, Hobby Lobby)
- Single hole punch
- Twine, string, ribbon, etc.
Punching the tags is oddly satisfying. Don’t try to center on a design, just punch with total abandon. Trust me, you’ll be pleased.
Make a single hole punch near the top for twine, string, or ribbon.
I’ll admit I spent entirely too long smiling at last year’s cards. The small sentimental part of me is happy to pass these on to others. I just love the variety and quirky personality of these homemade gift tags.
Any color ribbon would look great with the tags, but my personal favorite is a neutral rustic twine. It goes with everything! So, will you be trying these at home?
Happy gifting!
